Questions couples ask
Booking and prices
How much do you charge?
Both packages, and all the extras you can add, are on the packages page with 2026 prices. If you’d like a second photographer, I can arrange one for an additional charge.
Will you hold the date for us?
Yes. I’m happy to pencil you in for a week while you finalise things. If another couple asks about your date in that time, I’ll let you know. The date is yours once the booking fee is paid and I’ve sent your confirmation.
How do we book?
I take a £200 booking fee to secure your date. When you’re ready, I’ll ask for a few details, then send over a quote to accept, a contract to sign and details of how to pay the booking fee.
Which areas do you cover? Are there travel costs?
I’m based between Lichfield, Walsall and Sutton Coldfield, and photograph weddings all around the Midlands and the surrounding counties. If your wedding is further away I’m happy to travel, but there may be additional costs. If there are, they’ll be clearly set out in your quote.
Your photographs
How many photographs will we get?
Around 1,000 from a full day. I take a few thousand on a full day and select only the best. I don’t put a limit on how many you get, but I don’t send anything that doesn’t pass my own quality check.
How long until we see them?
As soon as possible. I back up the memory cards as soon as I get home, then pick a few previews to edit and send over within a week. Your full gallery usually follows within 6 weeks, or 8 to 10 weeks during peak season.
How are they delivered?
Every package is delivered digitally in your own online gallery, with full printing rights, so you can print your photographs wherever you like. If you’d like something to hold, the memory box and photo book are a popular choice. You’ll find them under extras on the packages page.
Can we have the RAW files?
I don’t supply RAW files, for two reasons. They’re unedited, so they don’t show the hours of work that go into how your photographs look. And they’re enormous, far too big to share sensibly.
On the day
How do you feel about group shots?
They’re an important record of the day, but I like to keep them to around 10 to 15 combinations. They take time that could be spent on portraits or on your guests enjoying themselves, and there’s always one essential guest who’s nipped off to the loo.
What happens if you’re ill?
I do my best not to be, but it happens to all of us. Unless I’m in bed with a fever, I’ll be at your wedding (unless you’d rather I kept my sniffle away).
Are you insured?
Yes. I have full public liability and professional indemnity insurance. Some venues ask for a PAT certificate, but it isn’t needed, because I don’t plug anything in at the venue.
What is a pre-wedding shoot?
A relaxed session before the wedding. It isn’t essential, but it’s a good way to get to know each other, and you get a smaller set of photographs to keep. I usually do these somewhere rural near you, and some couples are able to use their venue for a kind of “before” shoot. It’s one of the extras you can add.
Check your date and let’s have a chat.
Tell me your date and a little about your plans, and I’ll let you know if I’m free. Ask me anything else while you’re at it.
No pressure. No obligation. Just a friendly conversation.
